PLACER COUNTY —
Flames are racing towards Deadwood Ridge in Placer County.
The blaze, called “American Fire” by authorities, is located just northeast of Foresthill and reportedly started around 4:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon. The area is filled with heavy timber and brush.
Cal Fire and the US Forest Service are battling the flames, with smoke visible from Interstate-80 near Tahoe. The fire has already burned over 8000 acres.
