To keep or to throw out – that’s what Sacramento City Council considered when it came to their ordinance on “big-box” stores.
After a contentious debate, city council eased their restrictions that basically prevented new big-box stores from opening within city limits. A 6-2 vote decided the ease on the ban.
Council members were looking to amend current requirements that force superstore chains to submit economic impact studies and wage analysis before opening new stores.
The ordinance has prevented big box stores from opening in Sacramento since it was passed in 2006.
