Joshua Wood, executive director of Region Builders, Inc., sent a letter Monday to the Sacramento City Clerk’s office to ask to have each signature on a petition to put the new downtown arena up to a public vote.
The group behind the petition, Sacramento Taxpayers Opposed to Pork (or S.T.O.P.), has lobbied against the city using public land for the planned arena.
“Despite the continual claims from their campaign, we now have proof from the Fair Political Practices Commission report that $80,000 was given to Momentum Political Services to fund the anti-Arena signature gathering effort. As you know, this firm is run by an individual with a history of potentially fraudulent behavior in voter registration and petitioning,” Wood wrote.
In the letter, Wood says Momentum Political Services was investigated for possible forgery.
The letter was signed by Wood and Kevin Ferreira, president of Ironworkers Union Local 118.
