CHP investigators are still looking for the car that hit a motorcycle then drove away from the scene Saturday afternoon.
According to a release from CHP, around 3:45 p.m. Saturday, 70-year-old Joe Mikles and his wife Mary were riding east along I-80 near Norwood Avenue on Joe’s Harley Davidson in the middle lane. A dark gray vehicle then hit the back of the motorcycle, causing the Joe and Mary to be thrown from the bike.
Authorities are now saying that the car they’re looking for is a 2007-2012 Nissan Altima sedan with an aftermarket grill.
Both riders were taken to Mercy San Juan Hospital, where they were treated with major, but non-life threatening-injuries. The two were wearing helmets at the time of the collision.
The car that hit the riders will probably have front bumper and grill damage. CHP says that the car was driving recklessly before the crash.
Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact the Special Investigations Unit at the North Sacramento Area CHP office at (916) 338-6710 or the CHP dispatch at (916) 861-1300.
