Fire at Mt. Diablo Caused by Target Shooting, Cal Fire Says

The height of the Morgan Fire on Monday night.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY—

Authorities are now saying that the Morgan Fire, which lit up Mt. Diablo this week, was caused by target shooting.

Cal Fire investigators released their finding Thursday afternoon.

The fire has burned 3,133 acres since Sept. 8. It stands at 90% containment as of Thursday.

At the fire’s height, over 100 homes had to be evacuated.
