SACRAMENTO VALLEY—

A Red Flag Warning has been issued for most of the southern Sacramento Valley through the end of the week due to concerns over wind coupled with relatively low humidity.

The National Weather Service announced the warning Wednesday. The warning will be in effect from 5 a.m. Thursday to 7 a.m. Saturday. Basically all of the southern Sacramento Valley, from Glenn County to Sacramento County, is included in the warning. The Delta is excluded.

Expect the strongest winds to come Thursday afternoon through Friday morning, NWS notes.

Cal Fire, the state’s fire protection agency, notes that they are increasing their staffing in preparation for any problems that may pop up during the warning. Areas across the state will also be experiencing red flag conditions, Cal Fire notes.

Officials issue a Red Flag Warning whenever weather conditions reach a point that could allow newly-ignited fires to spread quickly.
