Man Found Shot to Death in Rural Butte County Home

Authorities are saying that a man was found shot to death in a Palermo home back on Friday.

According to a media release from the Butte County Sheriff’s Office, deputies showed up to a home along Gene Lane, off of Palermo Road, around 5:30 p.m. after getting a report of a man found dead.

The sheriff’s office has identified the man as 43-year-old Oroville resident Lewis Raymond Newton. He looks to have been shot.

Detectives are calling the incident a homicide, but they aren’t releasing any information on a possible motive at this time. Their investigating into the incident is ongoing.
