STOCKTON—

Police in Stockton say that a man walked into a store asking to use the bathroom, only to later rob the place.

The incident happened at a store along Thornton road, near Hacienda Drive, just after 10 a.m. Thursday.

A suspect is said to have walked into the store and asked to use the restroom. The clerk said he couldn’t because it wasn’t for public use, so the suspect milled around for a bit.

Once the store was empty of customers, police say that the suspect pulled out a black handgun from his backpack and robbed the clerk. The suspect is said to have grabbed money from the register once it was opened by the clerk.

Further, the suspect is also said to have taken a cellphone.

The suspect, described as a young Asian male wearing a beanie and a grey shirt with black pants, was last seen running from the store.

Interestingly, about 20 minutes later another robbery happened about two miles down the road, near Pacific Avenue and W. Swain Road.

The suspect – who’s description is nearly identical from the first robber, except for a different color of beanie – is said to have walked in the store and made it look like he was shopping for headphones.

While an employee’s back was turned, the suspect pulled out a handgun from his backpack and robbed the store of money and two sets of headphones.

Police say the suspect also pointed a gun at customers inside the store, ordering them to the floor.

The suspect was again seen running from the scene, this time eastbound on Porter Avenue.
