SACRAMENTO-

There were pink shirts, pink hats, pink shoelaces, fingernails, and ties. Wednesday at Sleep Train Arena, the Sacramento Kings organization raised both money and awareness for breast cancer and also honored maybe their biggest fan.

Barbara Rust, known as Sign Lady to the Kings faithful, is recovering from breast cancer surgery she had last week.

“It’s just so much bigger than I ever imagined,” exclaimed Niko Rust, Barbara’s husband when asked about the effort at the arena Wednesday.  “It feels so good for our family to have that much support.

Sign Lady is a legend at Kings games.

She has been a season ticket holder since the team moved here way back in 1985.  But she’s most known for the many inspirational signs she displays during games.

“I love her so much.  I hope she pulls through and I can’t wait to see her,” said one fan.

“I wanted to come here tonight to show my support for her and to wish her a speedy recovery,” said another.

The hope from everyone is to have Sign Lady back in her seat on opening night October 30.
