As more stores choose to open their doors on Thanksgiving Day, the gobble gobble tradition is slowly fading.
At Arden Fair Mall, Christmas decorations are already in full swing — and, for the first time, the mall will open at 8 p.m. Thanksgiving Day as opposed to the traditional midnight for Black Friday Shopping.
Arden Fair made the decision to open early after all major department stores decided they would open at 8 o’clock.
“In the past we had about 8,000 people waiting here at midnight waiting to get inside the mall,” said head of mall security, Steve Reed.
Reed hopes the early opening will ease some of the heavy traffic.
Shoppers we talked to had mixed feelings.
“No stay with your family, stay with your family,” said Steve Ceccatu.
