A woman was hit and killed by man suspected of driving under the influence, CHP says.
The incident happened near Oates Drive and Bradshaw Road around 7:40 p.m. The woman was reportedly standing in the center divider on Bradshaw and for unknown reasons tried to cross the road. She was then hit by the truck.
CHP says that the driver of a truck with a Comcast logo — identified as 52-year-old Isleton resident Kenneth Palmer — hit the woman and left the scene, only to come back a short time later. It’s unclear if the driver was a Comcast employee or if the truck was owned by Comcast at the time.
Officers conducted a field sobriety test at the scene on the driver and he was soon taken to jail under suspicion of DUI, CHP says. Since he came back to the scene, CHP notes that he will not face hit-and-run charges.
CHP is continuing to investigate the incident.
