The fine, as posted by the blog Weighty Matters.

A Canadian mom is claiming that she was fined $10 for sending her children to school with an “unbalanced lunch.”

What made the lunches unbalanced, you ask? According to the note sent home that day, the lack of Ritz Crackers.

The day care was apparently citing Manitoba’s Early Learning and Child Care lunch guidelines for the fine, which supposedly stipulates that students need to have one milk, one meat, one grain and two fruits or vegetables in their meals.

For the school having to provide the children their missing nutrition, the children’s family was charged $5 a kid.

What do you think? Parents be fined for not packing a well-rounded meal for their children?

I Understand I appreciate the inventiveness of their school system, but REALLY? How about taking time to notify parents with warning?
