Sacramento Police say a suspect reached “extremely” high speeds along I-5 as he tried to escape arrest Friday morning.
Just after 9 a.m., cops started chasing the man after a carjacking along Richards Boulevard. The suspect stabbed the victim several times, then took his blue truck.
The carjacker originally headed south along I-5, into the Pocket neighborhood. The driver then got into the northbound lanes, and raced back up toward Sacramento.
The driver, later identified at 21-year-old Maximiliano Hernandez crashed just north of I-80 and was arrested. He was injured in the crash, and taken to the hospital. Officers believe he will be O.K.
Two lanes of I-5 were closed as crews clean-up the scene.
The person stabbed is also expected to recover.
