STOCKTON-

Stockton Police arrested a man suspected of kidnapping a girl and beating her for several days Monday.

Investigators say 39-year-old Thornton Cooley held the girl three or four days ago against her will after she willfully went to a house along North Aiport Way, near East Park Street.

A man claiming to live at that house told FOX40 that she wasn’t held against her will, but police say otherwise.

“She tried to leave, actually walked outside, when he went out there and grabbed her by the hair, dragged her back inside the house and beat her up,” Stockton Police Spokesman Joe Silva said.

Officers say, at one point, the girl was beaten after she tried to walk outside. She was eventually able to escape and call her mother.

Police arrested Cooley at the house. He was booked on suspicion of kidnapping and drug possession.

Sad that no one is looking at this as a girl who cried wolf. She a possible "runaway" not reported missing mind you. Who knows how long she has been missing finally gets tired and wants to go home, to not have to face the consequences of her home problems this little girl makes upon a story so she didn't have to deal with or face her problems at home. Hello no injuries on this child. This man is a giant I know him personally and if this man put a hair on her she would after 4 days still have fresh looking injuries. She went willingly into the home. Why is nothing being asked of the parents of this child. Why wasn't she reported missing or as a run away. Obviously there is a problem with neglect by her parents. And without signs of abuse how is it that he is being held for child abuse and on what evidence because this story lacks any validity. Seems tome that tthis is going to end up being a factor of discrimination against the not so guilty suspect. I feel for his family they are good people. My prayers are with them. Its as if reality of society has forgotten what teenagers are capable of. I am shocked and saddened.
