So-Called “King of Revenge Porn” Arrested

SACRAMENTO-

The king of revenge-porn finally is behind bars.

Hunter Moore, 27, was arrested Thursday at his home in Woodland and indicted on federal charges.

“This was never about pornography,” Charlotte Laws said. Lewis is the woman who made it her personal crusade to bring Moore down.  “It’s about trying to drive mostly women to commit suicide, about getting them fired, embarrassing them in front of their families.  It’s about ruining their lives.”

Moore has been called the most hated man on the internet for his alleged operation of the revenge-porn website “Is Anyone Up.”  The site posted nude photos of people, many of whom say they did not consent to having their images appear on the internet.

Moore was indicted Thursday, along with his alleged hacker accomplice, who sold the images to Moore for private financial gain.

“Hunter Moore obviously wanted content for his site,” Laws said. “He was making money off his site, he had advertisers, he needed content.  He wanted content from people who would never send a nude picture.  People who would freak out for having a nude picture on the internet.”

Moore and his accomplice could face up to 42 years in prison if convicted.

The trial is expected to take place in Los Angeles and start some time in March.
