Californians are being asked to reduce their energy use, in response to continuing sub-zero temperatures out east.
California ISO issued a Flex Alert Thursday, asking customers to limit their natural gas usage between 1 p.m. and 10 p.m.
The organization says there is a shortage of natural gas triggered by the extreme cold weather in many other parts of the country, and that is impacting fuel supplies to Southern California power plants.
They say statewide conservation will help free up electricity and gas supplies.
Californians are asked to turn off unneeded lights, postpone using large appliances, and turning down heaters.
