Like Losing a Child All Over Again: Ashes of Woman’s Son Stolen in Burglary

STOCKTON-

A Stockton family is mourning the loss of their still born son for a second time, after burglars ransacked their home, stealing their son’s urn.

“It was like losing a child all over again,” Raynesha Williams said.

Williams said when she came home Wednesday, she noticed doors and windows were open that she hadn’t opened before she left.

“I was walking around to see exactly what was missing. How they got in, how they got out, and realized that his urn was missing,” she told FOX40.

Williams said her son, Zachary Toliver, was still born when she gave birth. This is not her first such tragedy.

“I’ve had five miscarriages in the last three years. Had one on Monday. So it’s been a hard couple of years,” Williams said.

“If you get burglarized, that’s obviously traumatic, but if you have something stolen that means something to you, like an urn with your child’s ashes, that’s very sentimental,” Stockton Police Officer Joseph Silva said.

They’re asking for the public’s help to find the urn.

“We’re encouraging the burglars to drop the urn with the ashes off somewhere,” Silva said.

Williams suggested the burglars drop the urn off at her doorstep.

“It’s not like they don’t know where I live,” Williams said.

If you have any information about the burglary, you’re asked to contact the Stockton Police Department at (209) 937-8377. the Investigations Unit at (209) 937-8323 or Crime Stoppers at (209) 946-0600. You can remain anonymous.
