“They called my mother and her boyfriend crying hysterically saying that the baby wasn’t breathing, the baby’s gone.”
By the time Carolyn Phillips rushed to this home near Hawk Avenue, it was blocked off with crime scene tape.
“We see them you know, very often. It just doesn’t seem right to me, you know. Something’s wrong here,” Phillips said.
Phillips recently cradled the baby in her arms in this photograph. They were at a family gathering.
“She’s a pretty little baby,” said Phillips
Phillips says the three-month old girl was named Anthonise Mial.
“There were several people in the home as well as other children. A lot of them were transported down to our headquarters to speak to detectives,” said Officer Doug Morse.
Police are investigating what led up to the infant’s death. Phillips says the parents told her mother the last time they saw their daughter alive was at 3 a.m. Saturday morning. She came to the home at 3 p.m. Saturday evening.
“It could be anything from a natural cause to the unfortunate thing, if it’s suspicious, and that’s what we’re looking into,” Morse said.
“If something did happen someone deserves to pay for that,” Phillips said.
