Fairfield Man Accused of Biting Off Infant Son’s Nose
A young man was arrested Thursday morning, after police say he bit a significant piece of his infant son’s nose off.
Officers responded to an Alaska Avenue apartment upon getting a call from a “hysterical” woman about her son’s nose bleeding. Police say the child’s parents and several other family members were there, along with the one-month-old baby.
The child’s father, 18-year-old Joshua Cooper, was apparently upset by the child’s crying and bit a third of baby’s nose off, according to Fairfield Police.
The baby was taken to the hospital, where doctors say it was suffering from a severed nose, a fractured skull and hemorrhaging brain. Police are investigating how the skull and brain injuries happened.
The child is said to be in stable condition.
Cooper was booked into jail for child cruelty and aggravated mayhem.
