FRESNO-

A complaint filed against former Oakdale youth minister Tyler Bliss details the federal child porn charges he faces.

It appears now that Bliss’ case will be handled in federal court instead of Stanislaus County.

The FBI was able to track down Bliss through a Gmail address associated with a graphic image, according to a statement by Special Agent Mark Lucas. Investigators first learned of the image via an anonymous tip.

From there, the FBI worked with Google to learn more about the email address including associated IP addresses and times the account was accessed.

The complaint against Bliss alleges the email account researched was used primarily for child pornography.

Investigators were able to trace Bliss to the Bethel Assembly of God in Oakdale, where Bliss was a youth minister, and a home in Oakdale. Search warrants were executed at both locations, the complaint said.

When Bliss was arrested last month, investigators say he confessed to downloading the images from a website where he had a paid subscription, then stored the images in four separate email accounts. He also reportedly admitted to looking at child pornography on a church computer.

Investigators add that Bliss was also reportedly once in a romantic relationship with a minor, and had explicit images of her as well.

Bliss’ father, David Bliss, is the head minister at Bethel Assembly of God.
