Two thieves were spotted on surveillance video early Tuesday morning outside a home along Chickasaw Way in Manteca.

The duo used rocks to break the window of a Hilti truck parked in the driveway. In that truck was $8,000 worth of tools: commercial drills, saws and other high-end machinery. It was all stolen.

“This is the second time this has happened,” Alberto Miramontes said. He sells tools for Hilti.

The first time he believes the same group of men robbed his truck on Sunday, two days later they returned to steal more tools.

“They’re pricey; they saw the sign on my truck and figured they’d get away with a lot of money,” Miramontes said.

After the first theft, Miramontes bought a surveillance system, thinking the bold criminals would be brazen enough to return. Miramontes was right. They did come back, but this time he was prepared.

“Hopefully, someone recognizes them and they are caught,” he said.

In the video the men pull up in what appears to be a black sedan, possibly a Chrysler 300. If you know anything about this crime, call Manteca Police at (209) 456-8100.
