STOCKTON-

Drivers should expect delays this weekend, as one Interstate 5 off-ramp will be closed. Caltrans will block off the I-5 Southbound Oak/Fremont Street off-ramp beginning 11 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Those planning to go to the Stockton Arena for music concerns, the East Bay Classic high school baseball event, or to the Stockton Thunder hockey games are advised to take alternate routes. Caltrans recommends taking either the exits right before or after Fremont Street. Monte Diablo Avenue off-ramp off I-5 South or redirecting to the Cross Town Freeway (4) and exiting at Center and El Dorado Streets will be the best detours.

“Take ten minutes get out of the door on time, prepare to take another exit, and if everyone takes a deep breath, and follows some of the instructions, they`ll be there on time, and have a good time this weekend,” Lynn Diehl of Caltrans said.

This is the second of multiple on and off ramp closures scheduled until Fall, 2014. It is all a part of the $54 million I-5 Rehabilitation project that began last May. It will improve the shoulders, ramps, and add a median. That will be completed by late 2015.
