ARDEN ARCADE –
A man was shot and injured by officers Thursday night, after he reportedly pointed an assault rifle at them.
CHP officers were called to look into a possible car theft along Howe Avenue, south of Arden Way.
When they arrived, a man approached the officers carrying an assault rifle.
The officers demanded the man drop the gun, but they report the man instead pointed the weapon at the officers.
According to the preliminary investigation, the officers felt threatened and shot the man.
Witnesses at the nearby Residence Inn report hearing the shooting, but no one was hurt.
He was taken to the hospital and is currently listed in critical condition.
No officers were injured in the incident.
Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies are conducting the investigation.
