A garage caught fire Friday afternoon in south Sacramento.

The home is on the corner of Fruitridge Road and Bonnie Mae Way.

The Sacramento City Fire Department said it dispatched five engines to the home, and the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department helped block off the street.

Neighbors were able to alert the family inside the home, and everyone was able to get out safely.

The garage was said to be destroyed by the fire.

Firefighters did not say what caused the fire, but neighbors told FOX40 that they believe it was started by the water heater.
