Public Art Project Disguises Utility Boxes

There may appear to be fewer utility boxes around downtown Stockton, but new art in their place.

Four utility boxes around Janet Leigh Plaza are being painted this weekend as part of a joint program between the Downtown Stockton Alliance and The Stockton Mural Art Resource Team.

Ten student and mentor artists are participating in the event.

Once finished, their work will be sealed and treated to withstand damage from weather or vandalism.

All four should be finished by June 12 for a public unveiling.
