MODESTO-

A wildfire burned through grass and trees in an undeveloped area of Modesto, according to Modesto Regional Fire Authority.

The fire sparked in Tuolumne River Regional Park near the Carpenter Road Bridge. Firefighters were on the scene for 1 1/2 hours preventing any flare ups and controlling the fire’s spread to just 1 acre.

Several vegetation fires have occurred between the City of Modesto water treatment plant and the Carpenter Road bridge, and the majority of the fires appear to have been intentionally set.

The Fire Investigation Division of Modesto Regional Fire is searching for any information on the fires. If you have any tips, you can call them at (209) 491-5722.
