California State Water Board is set to discuss emergency drought restrictions to further conserve the state’s meager water supplies.

The regulations will limit outdoor watering and driveway car washing, among other rules.

Many urban water districts have already implemented similar rules, but a statewide restriction would carry stiff fines as well, up to $500 a day.

The water board is accepting written comments through Monday, they meet Tuesday in Sacramento to vote on the proposal.
