This Chihuahua mix was rescued after it was stranded on a small island along 14 Mile Slough

STOCKTON-

A dog that had been stranded on an island along 14 Mile Slough was rescued Friday, Stockton Police said.

The Chihuahua mix was first seen on the island in February. In recent days, some even tried staging their own rescue operations to no avail.

The dog was found Friday morning after Stockton Animal Services set a trap for it.

Stockton Police are asking anyone who knows the dog’s owner to call (209) 937-7445. It has no collar or microchip.

It is unknown how the dog found itself on the island.
