A large fire along the Sacramento River Friday morning destroyed an apartment and damaged a restaurant.
Before 7 a.m., the fire started at Happy Harbor restaurant. The living space on the second floor was engulfed in flames.
The woman who lives there was able to escape the fire through a window. Her two dogs died.
Several fire crews responded to get the fire under control.
The restaurant is along the levee in Isleton. The owner bought the location a year ago and was in the process of getting permits and licenses to open again this year.
