Two children were killed when the car they were in Friday morning lost control and crashed near Clarksburg.
The California Highway Patrol say the 2004 Honda Civic was was heading southbound on Jefferson Boulevard near Central Avenue just before 10 a.m. The 42-year-old driver, for reasons unknown, made a sudden turn and caused the car to lose control, investigators said.
Officers say the car was split in half after hitting a tree.
Two children, ages 2 and 5, were pronounced dead at the scene. The woman that was driving was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries.
It was unclear if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash, investigators said.
