A bear cub, found orphaned, hungry and alone in the woods of north Tahoe, is being nursed back to health.
The female bear was found by unnamed citizens, who brought her to the BEAR League in the Tahoe area. See a video of the cub below.
The cub’s mother was nearby, dead. The cub was clearly hungry, and weighed only 11 pounds; the BEAR League says a cub of that size should weigh 25 to 30 pounds.
She is now at the Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care center, along with several other bear cubs rescued this summer.

Officials hope to release these cubs next winter.
