A devastating sense of deja-vu for the emergency and coroner crews called out to the banks of the Sacramento river for the second time Monday, in an area popular with the homeless.
Much like the first, due to the location of the second body in steep terrain, a special rope and litter system had to bring the remains up to the bike trail near Garden Highway and Interstate 5.
There were no obvious signs of trauma on the body, but that the condition of it – due to either heat or length of time outside – is making it difficult to pin down any identifying factors.
Someone spotted the body around 5:30pm near Bannon Island.
The first body spotted in the Sacramento River Monday was reported just after 9 am.
It belonged to a white man in his 30’s and had become lodged between parts of an old dock on the North side of the “I” Street Bridge.
Police are now trying to identify both people found.
