A few weeks before two teenagers told FOX40 their bed bug bits came from the Lodi Stadium 12 Cinema, the city says the theater had been reported because of the pest.
The theater was closed Monday, with a sign out front reading, “In consideration for our patrons, we are closed today for a thorough inspection. We are sorry for the inconvenience.”
The theater says its handling the infestation, but it could prove to be costly.
Brad Delk of Delk Pest Control says it could cost the cinema between $4,000 and $5,000 per theater room to get rid of the bugs.
“The theater is a tough one, because of the amount of traffic that goes in there every day,” Delk said.
Delk inspected the homes of both teens who reported the bites. He said the inspection came up empty.
Pest control operations use chemicals and steam to kill the bugs.
The theater said on its Facebook page Tuesday that it hopes to reopen its doors Thursday.
