Senator Hueso the Latest in String of Arrested Lawmakers

SACRAMENTO-

The Friday morning arrest of California State Senator Ben Hueso is the latest in a string of lawmakers who have found themselves in trouble with the law this year.

At the end of March, state senators voted to suspend three lawmakers who were arrested in separate incidents earlier this year. Democratic Senators Leland Yee, Ron Calderon and Rod Wright were suspended.

Yee faces accusations of trying to arrange an arms deal, and of political corruption.

Senator Calderon turned himself in to federal authorities last month after he was indicted on 26 corruption charges.

Senator Wright was convicted of eight counts of elections fraud in January.

A quick search in FOX40’s archive turns up more arrests, including the 2012 incident involving former assemblymember Richard Robinson for suspicion of DUI.
