Napa Quake Damages Roads, Skaters Make the Most Of It

NAPA-

Residents in the Browns Valley neighborhood in southwest Napa woke up to destroyed home, buckled roads and cracked of asphalt.

Parts of Meadowbrook Drive were closed off early Sunday morning, after at least four areas of sidewalk and road buckled.

The neighborhood’s main artery was just repaved as a part of the city’s “10 miles a year” replacement project a few months ago.

“There was a complete overlay in this whole area and and the little corners on the sidewalks, looking great,” resident Kevin Miller said. “Now blown to hell.”

However, some residents are not bothered by the road closures and buckled streets. In fact, some are enjoying them.

“I’ve definitely thought about this as a kid for sure,” local skater Dylan Robertson said.

His home by Meadowbrook Drive had turned into a skatepark.

“It’s awesome,” Robertson said. “Pretty much everywhere. Sidewalks are broken up. New skate spots everywhere. Good cause for skate boarders, but not good in general.”
