Deadly Exotic Snake on the Loose in Los Angeles Area

THOUSAND OAKS-

Authorities in a Southern California city are asking residents to keep an eye on their kids and pets as the search continues for a cobra that’s already bitten a dog.

The dog-biting incident took place Monday in Thousand Oaks. And since then, the hunt for the snake — an albino monocled cobra — hasn’t yielded results.

Authorities do not know where the cobra escaped from.

They are telling locals to stay away from places where the snake may take shelter, such as pipes, animal burrows, or shrubs. They note that the snakes are particularly active in the cooler hours of the morning and evening, and they will strike if threatened.

As for the dog, it has been treated and released from a veterinary hospital, CNN’s affiliate KTLA said.
