A day before Major League Soccer officials are scheduled to visit Sacramento, the Republic FC announced its agreement to buy downtown railyard land for a possible new stadium.
Larry Kelley, owner of the railyards, will also join the Republic FC ownership group if MLS indeed decides to grant an expansion to the team.
The team also released a batch of concept renderings, offering a peek at what a downtown soccer stadium could look like.
MLS officials will tour the area Thursday and Friday and will also reportedly stop in Elk Grove, which is said to have its own stadium deal in the works.
