NEW YORK CITY –

The Sacramento Kings have filed a protest with the NBA about their loss to the Memphis Grizzlies last week.

The National Basketball Association announced Monday the basis of the Kings’ protest is Courtney Lee’s game-winning shot at the buzzer. The Grizzlies beat the Kings on Thursday 111-110.

The team believes the shot should have been disqualified because it was made after time expired. They argue the game clock was not started when it should have been, and would have expired by the time Lee’s layup was made.

Under protest procedures in the NBA, the Kings and Grizzlies have a chance to submit evidence to the league.

A decision will be made by the NBA on December 2.
