SACRAMENTO-

The NCAA is bringing Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament games to Sacramento in 2017, the organization announced Monday.

Sacramento and its new downtown arena will host the first two rounds of March Madness on March 17 and 19, 2017.

“[Monday’s] announcement marks another significant moment in our effort to make Sacramento a global destination for sports, civic and entertainment events,” Sacramento Kings Owner Vivek Ranadive said in a news release from the Kings.

Ranadive added that college basketball fans will “experience something totally unique and exciting in Sacramento.”

This will be the first time NCAA tournament games are held in Sacramento since 2007.
