LOS ANGELES (KTLA)-

A Los Angeles-area sex offender described by police as “violent” has cut off his GPS monitor and disappeared, officers said.

Joseph Serapiglia was last seen Friday in Panorama City before he removed the monitor. Police say Serapiglia, 43, is a “dangerous felon who has exhibited a violent nature.”

Serapiglia was convicted of attempted murder and rape in 1991. He was released on parole in April.

Serapiglia was described as Hispanic, with brown hair, brown eyes and a bushy mustache. He stands 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs about 175 pounds.

He has a dragon tattoo on his right upper arm, a marijuana leaf on his chest.

Anyone with information about Serapiglia’s whereabouts is urged to contact Detective McPartland at 951-809-1647 or Officer Sanchez at 818-669-5511. During non-business hours and on weekends, callers should dial 1-877-527-3247.
