SACRAMENTO-

Jeff Spencer has a library on his front lawn.

It's actually a Free Little Library, and it's one of 15,000 worldwide.

"Pick a book, take it home. No need to bring it back but if they wanted to they could place it back in the library for someone else to enjoy," Spencer said.

Little Free Libraries are popping up all over Sacramento. FOX40 found 19 of these boxes full of books at curbsides near Spencer's Revelstok Drive home.

Spencer says the miniature libraries aren't immune to vandalism or theft, but it's worth it.

"As far as I'm concerned, if a thousand books get destroyed and one of them makes it into the hands of a child, it's served its purpose," Spencer told FOX40.
