Investigators from Citrus Heights Police and other agencies raided three locations in the city Tuesday morning, prompting the closure of part of Auburn Boulevard.
"Citrus Heights had their armored car and a lot of cops," said Terry Sidle who witnessed the commotion on Auburn Boulevard between Antelope and Old Auburn Road.
Officers say the search warrants came from an investigation into alleged weapons violations in Citrus Heights. One of those locations was a tire shop on Auburn Boulevard and Kanai Avenue.
SWAT officers were called out because of the "sensitive" nature of the weapons violations, Citrus Heights Police Officer Anthony Boehle.
"Other jurisdictions are involved from the region...this is just a small part of the puzzle,"said officer Anthony Boehle of the Citrus Heights Police Department.
Without disclosing what they found, officers said the search warrant operation went well and that more information would be coming when the investigation concludes.
Police were tight-lipped about what was found or what they were looking for because the investigation is on-going. But they did say it was part of bigger operation.
