SOUTH SACRAMENTO-

A suspect is recovering after being apprehended by a police K9 on 48th Avenue and Yosemite Street in South Sacramento. Around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, officers stopped a car after noticing it was having mechanical issues. The driver pulled over, then took off soon after.

The driver then crashed the car, and took off running, leaving the passenger in the vehicle. That passenger was immediately arrested, and officers set out to track down the driver.

With the help of a police K9, authorities were able to arrest the driver. The suspect received medical attention before being taken into custody.

The police K9 who tracked down the suspect was Drago, who was treated for a gunshot wound to the chest back in October 2013. In that incident, he helped track down an alleged car thief. The suspect shot at officers during the chase, hitting Drago. The suspect was later arrested.
