At least three people were shot Friday night after a concert in Midtown.

It happened around 11:30 p.m. on R Street between 14th and 15th streets, according to the Sacramento Police Department.

"I saw lots of people running and I saw flashes of bullets, about two dozen rounds," said witness Daniel Smith.

Officers already in the area heard the gunfire, and dozens responded.

"It appears that a few people were shooting at the time," said police spokesperson Michelle Gigante.

Police say three people were shot, two men and one woman. One man was hit multiple times in the upper torso.

Another person was grazed, according to police. All of the victims are expected to survive.

Witnesses tell FOX40 the street was crowded after a rap concert let out. Nipsy Hussle was performing.

"One subject was jumping on one of our patrol cars... the officers went after that person and during this time shots were also being fired," said Gigante.

With the chaos outside, nearby bars like R15 kept customers indoors. Cocktail waitress Liz Zeidler says this is not the first time a hip hop concert has ended this way here.

"That type of music does tend to bring in a lot of violence sometimes," Zeidler said.

She is concerned about tonight's sold out "Bone Thugs N Harmony" show.

But frequent concert goers like Alex Leier hope the violence doesn't damage the venue's reputation.

"Its a great place and the only thing that I hope from this incident, which is unfortunate, is that they don't blame the venue 'cuz it's a great venue," said Leier.

A handgun was recovered from the scene.

Police are still investigating. The suspects have not been identified.
