Happening Now: Burglar in Rancho Cordova Found Inside Garbage Can and More

Deputies tracked down a burglary suspect inside of a garbage can in a Rancho Cordova business area.

Burglar Busted in Garbage Bin

One man is in custody after a couple of break-ins  in Rancho Cordova. Around 3 a.m. deputies responded to a house alarm that went off. When they arrived, they discovered two cars inside of the garage were ransacked.

About 10 minutes later, deputies received a call about an intruder in a home on Pistachio Way. They say the suspect had gained access through a back window.

Shortly after, deputies saw a man walking away with a big bag. When the man saw them approaching, he ditched the bag and took off.

The suspect was later tracked down in a business area hiding inside of a garbage can.

Non-stop Flights to Dallas

Starting today, Southwest Airlines is providing non-stop service from Sacramento International to Dallas Love Field. Employees are celebrating the inaugural flight with Texas-themed treats and giveaways at the gate.

The first flight just took off at 6:20 a.m., and the 143 passenger flight was sold out.

South Sacramento Shooting

Investigators are trying to figure out who shot bullet holes through a house and a car last night on 47th Avenue near 50th Street.

Deputies say it’s unclear if a person was shot from the incident.

They say one man in the area sustained an ankle injury, but it’s unknown if he was hit by a bullet or was injured by some other means.
