LINCOLN-

The Lincoln Police Department is investigating the death of a woman as a possible drowning in the Auburn Ravine.

Lincoln police responded  to the Auburn Ravine near Lincoln Boulevard and Gateway Drive on Sunday afternoon in response to a call reporting a body floating in the water.

When officers arrived they discovered an adult female in the water. Emergency medical aid was performed at the scene before the woman was transported to Sutter Roseville Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

Detectives are attempting to identify the woman who was not clothed when discovered. Clothing that is believed to have belonged to her was discovered in the immediate area, according to police.  The woman has been described as white, 35- to 40 years old with pink, shoulder-length hair.

Preliminary evidence does not suggest any foul play was involved.

The investigation is continuing at this time. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Lincoln Police Department at (916) 645-4040.
