CAMERON PARK-

Residents in one Cameron Park neighborhood are shaken up after four mailbox clusters were vandalized Tuesday morning.

Each cluster has been visibly pried open, tampered with, vandalized and broken in to, according to the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office,

The clusters vandalized are on Tourmaline Way at both Spinel Circle and Hastings Drive, Aquamarine Circle, and Buckhorn and Starbuck Road.

"For me, you expect to go and get your mail. The come to find out someone comes and steals that away from you," mail theft victim Brenda Smith said.

She said she found out about the vandalism on her Neighborhood Watch Facebook page and that she wasn't the only victim.

"Who knows if there were bills, money, checks," Smith said.

A U.S. Post Office spokesperson said their inspectors take mail thefts seriously and that they will investigate and prosecute.

A person found guilty of tampering with a mailbox can spend up to three years in prison.

A sheriff's office spokesperson said investigators don't have any suspects at this time. They encourage anyone with information to call (530) 621-5655
