The state Water Resources Control Board tackled the subject of desalination Wednesday -- approving a new uniform set of rules.

Figuring out how to take sea water and not affect marine life and the best way to go about desalination was the topic of the meeting for the Water Resource Board.

Salinas Mayor Joe Gunter is in support of any extra water his area can get, especially on the heels of the governor's recent mandate.

But others are incredulous the plan and execution will ever take hold.

Conner Everts with the Desal Response Group believes exploring non-desal alternative makes far more sense.
