Man Injured in Sunday Shooting Dies; Deputies Investigating

SACRAMENTO-

A man who was injured during a bar fight on Sunday has died and now the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department is investigating the death as a homicide.

The Sacramento Sheriff’s Department received calls of a fight inside a lounge establishment on the 3400 block of El Camino Avenue early Sunday morning.

Before deputies arrived, the fight spilled out into the parking lot where gunshots were fired, according to the sheriff’s department.

When deputies arrived, they found a man with gunshot wounds. He was transported to the hospital with life-threatening wounds.

The shooting victim, identified as James Watkins, 37, died of his injuries Wednesday.
