Whitney High School Locked Down for Nearby Standoff

ROCKLIN-

Whitney High School was put on lockdown Thursday afternoon because of some nearby police activity.

Rocklin Police said the incident was not related to the school, but is close enough to take precautions. Officers were responding to the area of Wildcat Boulevard and Ranchview Drive.

Earlier Thursday, Placer County Sheriff’s deputies were looking for a man suspected of shooting two people in Newcastle. One victim was killed in that shooting.

The man was taken into custody a short time later.
